LAHAD DATU, April 1 — The establishment of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) 11 years ago was a serious and critical matter taken at that time to ensure security on the east coast of Sabah and its effects are being enjoyed now.
Its commander, Datuk Victor Sanjos said the decision to do so was correct and brought the best impact from all aspects namely politics, economy and social, especially to the people in the area.
“The setting up of ESSCom made its own history, and that is why ESSCom forces need to be committed in carrying out their duties and responsibilities with full professionalism and integrity to ensure that the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone) remains peaceful and sovereign, further maintaining a record of zero kidnappings since January 15, 2020.
“All ESSCom security forces need to continue to work hand in hand and ensure that the ESSZone is not only a safe but prosperous destination for all to visit and residents to enjoy the results of sustainable economic growth,” he said in a statement here today.

Meanwhile, Victor once again emphasised ESSCom’s commitment to raise the image of the ESSZone as a prosperous zone and submitted a proposal to the government to change the colour of the ESSZone map from red to white as a symbol of prosperity of the ESSZone. — Bernama
