Govt ramps up rebuilding efforts: 1,175 dilapidated schools upgraded since 2016, says MoE

PUTRAJAYA, March 26 — A total of 1,175 projects worth more than RM12.47 billion involving the rebuilding of dilapidated schools have been implemented to date since 2016, according to the Education Ministry.

In a statement issued today, it said of the total projects, 739 of them are fully completed, comprising 258 projects in Sarawak, 229 projects in Sabah and 252 projects in the peninsula.

Two hundred and three projects are currently under construction while another 233 projects are at the pre-construction stage, it said.

This year, it said, the Madani government has approved the rebuilding of 122 dilapidated schools nationwide.

“This is the highest number of approvals in the last five years,” it said, adding that MOE always strives to ensure that the best access to education can be provided for the benefit of students and the entire community.

The ministry, it said, is always proactive in ensuring that the issue of dilapidated schools is addressed immediately. — Bernama
